About

homemade soy candles and original haikus crafted during the COVID-19 pandemic

Nicholas is a Chicago Public Schools special education teacher who ultimately wanted his wife, Hannah, to stop buying candles, but also wanted another way to help out during the COVID-19 pandemic. So, he started making candles! Hannah is a school psychology doctoral candidate and creative writer. She wrote the haikus for each scented candle.

All candles are sliding scale $10-$20 (including shipping & handling), and 100% of the proceeds go to charities and organizations to support some causes we feel passionate about. The organizations rotate every few months. Currently, we are donating to Project Nia to help youth who have been part of the criminal justice system; to The Ocean Cleanup which helps retrieve and prevent plastic in our oceans; and to Oxfam America which helps fight systemic poverty. We are also currently donating to local chapters of Black Lives Matter.

b.l.t. candles is named after our three kitties: Bunk, Lunta, and Twiggy.
